Hinton will host a screening of the film. The film will be shown at Hinton Movies, a non-profit organization that was initiated by the Hinton Rotary Club in 2017, to help bring the “movie theater experience” back to Hinton. Hinton Movies is a member of the TIFF Film Circuit.

We Lend a Hand: The Forgotten Story of the Ontario Farmerettes is coming to London again! The film is a Best Documentary contender on the Forest City Film Festival.
Since its world premiere in April, We Lend a Hand “has been selling out theatres across Ontario.” making waves through Sarnia, Stratford, Oakville, and more. The film has been nominated for several awards, earning titles such as “Best Film About Women,” and “Best Documentary.” Director Colin Field says the Farmerettes and their families frequently attend these events and often receive standing ovations. They are even asked for photos and autographs after the shows.

On November 10th, The Empire Club Foundation together with the Empire Club of Canada will present a private screening of We Lend a Hand: The Forgotten Story of Ontario Farmerettes followed by a panel discussion entitled She Answered the Call that examines an important historical gender role disruption and what it means for today’s workforce, and the power of youth to make change in 2025.
Our expert panel will include Bonnie Sitter, Historical Producer of We Lend a Hand and co-author of Onion Skins and Peach Fuzz; Colin Field, Producer and Director of We Lend a Hand, an award-winning director with a background in education and corporate learning, and Lechin Lu, Associate Director at the Institute for Gender and the Economy at the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management. This event is moderated by Adrienne Batra, Editor-in-Chief of the Toronto Sun. Prior to the panel, Gilbert Reid, Historian, Writer, Broadcaster, and Founding Director, The King and Empire Foundation, will deliver special remarks on the history of WWII period in Canada and lay the foundation for how a wartime call-to-action broke open opportunities for young women.

Mississauga will host a screening of the film at the Mississauga Living Arts Centre as part of REEL Thursdays, a curated film series presented in collaboration with the TIFF Film Circuit.
The Walker House Museum in Kincardine will host a screening of the film as part of the The Walker House Remembers Exhibit. It is a collaborative community exhibition developed by the Walker House Museum in partnership with Veterans Affairs Canada and the residents of Kincardine, Bruce, Huron, and Grey Counties.
The exhibit seeks to honour and preserve the stories of those who served, sacrificed, and triumphed during the First and Second World Wars. A key goal of the exhibit is to highlight the contributions of women and those who supported the war efforts from the home front.
